Statement of Significance

Statement of Significance as recorded under the Queenscliff Heritage Study 2009

Kelvinargh, with neighbouring Carnbrea at 95 Hesse Street, were built towards the end of the nineteenth century. They are a pair of similarly detailed houses in Hesse Street. Much of the significance of this pair is that they are a mirror image of each other, and are prominent and contributory elements in the Hesse Street streetscape. They have aesthetic significance as well composed and detailed detached villas. In addition to this, Kelvinargh is significant for its association with at least two Queenscliff identities, Captain Louis B Campbell of the pilot service, and Mr Sayce a local pharmacist, who both lived in the house.
