Statement of Significance

The former Sutherland Homes orphanage administration block built in 1929 is of regional significance

. for its externally near original state and sophisticated architectural stylism which is rare within the Shire for buildings of this era;

. as a public institution over a long term in the Shire which is known by the community and the former residents in the complex;

. for the orphanage's (and any other related structure or planting's) association with Sulina Sutherland and the Suthetland Homes for Neglected and Destitute Children which was known across the state for their work.
