What is significant?
A new site extent was mapped which takes in a good example of undisturbed prospecting shafts. Within the mapped area are the remains of a very rough stone fireplace.
How is it significant?
The new mapped extent is significance because of it has:
Intactness: retains evidence of undisturbed late 19th century prospecting by shafts.
Integrity: a compact arrangement of undisturbed prospecting shafts
Condition: retained fabric in a condition that can be understood and interpreted
Why is it significant?
The site has local significance as a relic of Victorias historic gold mining industry. In comparison to other contemporary prospecting shafts, the mining features are intact.
