The former Muriel Peck Cottage, opened in 1934, has high local significance as the first Baby Health Centre established in the district. Operating as a Baby Health Centre until 1966, and from 1977 as Wellington Cottage, a district community centre, the building has significance as an important community meeting-place for over 60 years. The Cottage has particular significance for its associations with the pioneering women doctors, Dr Vera Scantlebury Brown and Dr Isobel Younger Ross, Sister Muriel Peck, and the Monbulk Women's Health Centre Committee, who all worked so hard to establish and then maintain this important community institution. Architecturally, the building is not significant.
