Statement of Significance

Montrose Cottage, although relocated in the 1980s to a new site and with a new roof and verandah, has local significance as a remaining 1870s selector's cottage with important associations with the early settler Robert Riddett, who selected land in 1877 and built a house, stable and storehouse on his Montrose property.
