Lufra is of local historic and social significance.

Why is it significant?
Of local historic and social significance because of its role as a nursing home and then as the Bush Nursing Hospital from 1939. It illustrates the provision of local health services in the era before public hospitals were established and, in particular, the trend to create private nursing homes in the Dandenong Ranges during the 1920s.
