Mount View house has local historical and aesthetic significance.
Why is it significant?
Of historical significance as a representative example of a house that
demonstrates the residential development of Lilydale after the coming of
the railway in 1881. Also because it was built as a home for Henry
Charles White, surveyor, a notable district resident, and his family.
Ernest Winterbottom, Shire Secretary, lived at Mount View in the 1920s.
