Statement of Significance

Reputedly built for Mr. D. S. Campbell and sold in 1861 to Dr. Cornelius Stewart, it once had large and beautiful grounds and a commanding site. Being sold again, the Roman Catholic Church saw the property as an ideal site for St. Ignatius Church. The house was moved from the site to Church Street, Abbotsford. Reputed to have been servants quarters for 'Mayfield', Church Street Abbotsford - home of the McCrae family.
