Statement of Significance

What is significant?
How is it significant?
Why is it significant?
The building at 118 Main Street, Stawell, is historically and architecturally significant at a CONTRIBUTORY level. Although the main facade and shopfront have been greatly altered, the rear multi-gabled roof forms clad in galvanised corrugated iron, early brick wall construction and gable ventilators are particular elements that contribute to the historical and architectural amenity of the area.
Opportunities may be available for the appropriate reconstruction of the 1878 facade through historical photographs and a lithograph held by the Stawell Historical Society (the building was earlier known as S. Isaacson and Son, Family Draper store).
