Statement of Significance
This site is of high social significance to the local community. There is a strong association with the fishing industry for at least 80 years. The huts represent a unique example of a vernacular fishing shcak community close to a regional metropolis. It also has significance as thesignature set of Mad Max, one of the most successful early Australian films that helped launch the industry to the international market.
