The house, 3279 Charlton-St Arnaud Road, Slaty Creek, has significance as an intact example of the transitional Late Victorian and Federation style, and as part of a group three similarly designed houses off the Charlton St. Arnaud Road. Possibly built in the early 20th century, the house appears to be in fair condition when viewed from the road.

The house, 3279 Charlton-St Arnaud Road, Slaty Creek, is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of a transitional Late Victorian and Federation style. These qualities include the steeply pitched gambrel roof form, together with the encircling bullnosed verandah punctuated by the central gable entrance portico. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the symmetrical composition, single storey height, stuccoed wall finish, lapped galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, two symmetrical and elongated stuccoed chimneys with terra cotta pots, modest eaves, paired timber verandah columns supported by low, stuccoed piers, decorative cast iron verandah brackets, timber brackets supporting the flying central portico gable, timber framed double hung windows, central timber framed doorway with panelled timber door, sidelights and highlights, decorative window leadlighting, and the ridge decoration. The front garden also contributes to the significance of the place. The architectural significance of this house also relies on the retention of the two nearby similarly designed houses off the Charlton St. Arnaud Road.
