Statement of Significance

Individual place statement of significance::
This reserve is historically significant, as an area which was once a lagoon and as an early reserve which was 'beautified' in the late 19th century. It was seen as a picturesque asset to the village of Keilor and was commented on by contemporary journalists.

Precinct statement of significance::
Of State significance as an important remnant streetscape relating to the goldfields era village of Keilor, and with several substantial and intact buildings from the Gold Rush period including the Keilor Hotel, Court House and Police Station.
