The house, 171 Grampians Road, Halls Gap, has significance as an example of an early 20th century Picturesque Bungalow style. It is associated with the residential developments in Halls Gap in the early 20th century, having possibly been built in 1928 for a Mr. Dawson, a bootmaker of Stawell. These qualities include the steeply pitched gable roof form that traverses the site, together with the attic gables that project towards the road frontage. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the two storey height (with the second storey within the roof space), corrugated profile to the roof cladding, rendered finish to the walls and the timber framed multi-paned double hung attic window in the traversing gable end. Overall, the house, 171 Grampians Road, Halls Gap, is of LOCAL significance.
