The house, 2-8 Grampians Road, Halls Gap, has significance has a moderately intact example of a Late Victorian style. Possibly built before the First World War in 1914, the house appears to be in fair condition when viewed from the road. The house, 2-8 Grampians Road, Halls Gap,is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. Although slightly altered and extended, it still demonstrates original design qualities of a Late Victorian style. These qualities include the gable roof form that traverses the site, together with the two flanking gables that project towards the road and the central verandah between. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the symmetrical composition, single storey height, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, red painted galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, modest eaves with exposed timber rafters, front timber bargeboards with decorative ends, timber framed double hung windows, rear gabled and skillion wings, and the rear multi paned timber framed windows. The house, 2-8 Grampians Road, Halls Gap, is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with residential developments at Halls Gap in the early 20th century. In particular, this house appears to have been built before the First World War in 1914 for the Pickering family. Overall, the house, 2-8 Grampians Road, Halls Gap,is of LOCAL significance.
