Statement of Significance
The Glenorchy Weir, Glenorchy is significant as part of the Wimmera Mallee Domestic and Stock Supply system which grew to become one of the largest of its kind in the world. A weir in the vicinity was first constructed in c.1883 of logs and wood as part of the original works in the Wimmera Mallee irrigation system. The Glenorchy Weir, Glenorchy is historically and scientifically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the Wimmera-Mallee stock and domestic water supply system which grew to become one of the largest of its kind in the world. Overall, the Glenorchy Weir is of LOCAL significance.
