Statement of Significance

This lone grave in the forest is reputedly that of a child who died while travelling with family from Adelaide to the goldfields. the grave is marked by a small carved stone, dated 1854. The hand carving reads :

The stone was cemented into rocks for some permanence by the Stawell Field Naturalists in the 1950s.
