Other intact or appropriate qualities include the asymmetrical composition, single storey height, face brick wall construction, light masonry quoinwork and other dressings (window sills), galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, brick chimneys, narrow eaves, faceted bay window and the roof ridge decoration. The mature deciduous row of exotic trees, other mature trees nearby the house (including the Bunya Bunya pine), and the timber gate posts and gate also contribute to the significance of the place.

It is associated with residential and farming developments in the Concongella area in the second half of the 19th century. In particular, this house and property has associations with W.H. Osmand, M.L.C., the original owner after the Land Act of 1865, who appears to have built this house as his headquarters where he planted an orange grove. Osmand was a mining magnate, engaged in smelting operations, and is reputed to have made £150,000 in the North Cross Company mine. He made a large contribution to the history of the Concongella district.
