How is it significant?
The house is historically and architecturally significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.

Why is it significant?
The house is historically significant because it was the home of local academic,

Bruce Robert Moore (father of footballer Peter Moor who played for Collingwood and Melbourne) and illustrates the attraction of Eltham to academics during the mid part of the 20th century (Criteria H & A). The house is architecturally and aesthetically significant as a good example of an 'Eltham-style' house. Like many 'Eltham-style' houses, it was constructed in stages by an owner builder, was designed to integrate in to its bush settings and featured the use of pise in its construction (Criterion D).

This building illustrates an innovative small house of circa 1950 that has added interest for its owner builder executed pise construction and its location in a precinct of adobe and pise dwellings. This building also illustrates the attraction of Eltham to academics during this period.
