What is Significant? [To be confirmed and amplified following a site inspection.] Edglestone, 1910 Hamilton Highway, Murgheboluc is the homestead established by the early Scottish settler, James Stout following his successful time on the Victorian gold fields. He was one of the earliest residents in the district and one of the largest landowners. The Stout family occupied Edglestone for three generations and for over 100 years. The complex comprises the single-storey homestead, a range of traditional outbuildings, a garden immediately around the house and a tree-lined drive from the Hamilton Highway. The complex appears to be substantially intact and generally in good condition. How is it Significant?
